Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that service. The provider processes the query and supplies its own results. Wolfe County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Messages stay within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the server to receive routine technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved by a browser. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and how visitors move through the site. Analytics providers can combine this activity into summary statistics. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search to the selected partner service
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Finding technical problems and repairing them
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Wolfe County Criminal History does not build, store, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes access information for the Wolfe County Sheriff, Kentucky courts, Kentucky State Police, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party record or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool falls under that provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Those terms are beyond this site's control, so review them before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to courts, law-enforcement agencies, state offices, legal resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms control. Review those terms before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is governed by their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards protect collected information. No internet service is completely secure, however, so an absolute guarantee against unauthorized access cannot be made.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted after a valid request.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence. Kentucky's Consumer Protection Act and Consumer Data Protection Act provisions in KRS Chapter 367, plus the data-breach notice law at KRS 365.734, provide relevant state protections. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
